Homes For Sale in West McLean

Above are the homes currently for sale in the West McLean neighborhoods. This includes “coming soon” properties.

Living in McLean

McLean is one of the most sought after areas in Northern VA.

A short drive in multiple directions puts you right into the midst of all the convenience of urban living. Including easy access into Washington DC. And yet, a drive the other direction and you will find world class hiking and a breathtaking waterfall.

“West McLean” in this article is a small section section of town that is immediately west of McLean’s quaint downtown area.

There are more neighborhoods western beyond the beltway with a McLean address, including The Reserve and McLean’s Hamlet.

There are a few communities in this pocket of land between Chain Bridge Road and Dolley Madison.

A huge perk of living here is walkability. In one direction you can be in McLean’s small downtown to get coffee or a meal.

The other direction and you can get to the metro rail and shopping malls. It is a great place to live.

If you are looking in this area, read on for more about the communities.

Communities

Here are the communities that make up this area of West McLean.

West McLean

The first subdivision to the west of downtown McLean is named, appropriately, West McLean.

Being the closest and most walkable to the shops and restaurants in McLean, the neighborhood has been very popular for new construction over the years.

Many of the homes in West McLean were originally built in the 1920s and 1930s. If you drive the neighborhood you may still find some older homes.

Most of those homes have now been replaced by larger new homes of different eras, different styles and built by different builders.

There is no HOA in the West McLean subdivision. HOAs tend to slow down or stop the process of new construction because of architectural restrictions.

You can find craftsman, colonial, modern farmhouse, contemporary homes and more. There is even a very small cluster of 8 townhomes.

The lots are on average a quarter to a third of an acre, which gives the area a suburban neighborhood feel, but with an eclectic collection of large homes.

Broyhill McLean Estates

Broyhill is just beyond the boundaries of West McLean (to the west, go figure).

The Broyhill community was first built in the 1950s. Most of the homes were split levels, colonials and ranch style homes.

The older homes offer an affordable option (relative to the rest of this area) to live close in to the downtown area of McLean.

But just like many of the McLean neighborhoods with no HOA restrictions, many of the old homes have been replaced over the years with new homes.

Broyhill has a great sense of community, including an active civic association.

Evans Farm

Evans Farm is different community than the first two. The community was built in the early 2000s.

It is a gated community that has history that goes back centuries as a farm.

It even has the original millhouse and stonehouse that are maintained by the Homeowners Association.

The association also maintains several ponds and common areas for residents.

There are townhomes, single family homes on small lots and even condos in Evan’s Farm.

The neighborhood is private and very attractive. The homes have an elegant colonial style both inside and out.

As you explore the neighborhood you will see stone and brick exteriors with striking columns and detailed trimwork.

The neighborhood is quiet, private and will be a peaceful retreat if you become a resident.

Townhomes In West McLean

There are a couple of small townhome clusters in the area, in addition to the Evans Farm and West McLean subdivisions.

These include Hallcrest Heights and Lewinsville Square.
